The family of Rowdy Roddy Piper posted a small statement on Piper’s Facebook page which has been flooded with condolences from fans around the world.

“Our family is saddened by the sudden passing of our father and beloved husband, Roderick Toombs aka Rowdy Roddy Piper. Please respect our family’s privacy during this difficult period,” the statement read.

The WWE Hall of Famer passed away during his sleep on Thursday night after suffering a heart attack.
