NBC picks up Young Rock for a second season

NBC has picked up a second season of Young Rock according to Deadline.com, with the announcement coming a week before the season one finale airs.

Young Rock is the number two comedy of the season in 18-49 and said that the pilot episode has been seen by over 13 million viewers. Young Rock is also the top comedy debut across digital platforms on record through 60 days with a total of 3.6 million digital views.

Dany Garcia, Johnson’s business partner and executive producer on Young Rock wrote, “Thank YOU, the audience, for making #YoungRock the largest digital launch of any comedy in @NBC history,” following the announcement.

Former WWE creative writer and fellow executive producer Brian Gewirtz added, “Finally @TheRock has come BACK for #YoungRock Season 2!” Gewirtz thanked the audience as well as Universal Television, NBC, the team behind the show as well as the cast and crew and said that he cannot wait to tell more stories.

With one episode to go, Young Rock has averaged 3.1 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
