Former WWE and AEW star Jake Hager underwent emergency eye surgery following a devastating loss at a Power Slap event.
Hager lost to Johnny Magna via TKO after his slap resulted in his eye bleeding, with UFC President Dana White describing it one of the worst injuries in contact sport he’s ever seen. White even prevented the replay from airing and promised the company will do whatever it can to provide medical care for Hager.
Patricia Blackburn, Hager’s partner, shared the news yesterday that Hager underwent successful eye surgery and is now recovering.
“Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you’ve shown Jake during this difficult time.
Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery. We’re taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know,” she wrote. “Thank you for being there for Jake. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.”
Hager departed AEW in 2014 and his last wrestling match was less than a month ago, losing to Alberto El Patron for World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico.
