What are the most important things when getting fit?

Before we even begin, the most important thing to keep in mind, hands down, is safety. Nothing else matters if you are not taking care of yourself and making sure what you are doing is safe, and you are confident you can do it.

It’s like how you wouldn’t bet everything you have if you weren’t sure about your hand in PlayCroco Casino Bonuses. You are worried about losing your money! So, all the more so should you keep track of and take care of your body.

Getting fit is all about health. If anyone tells you it’s for any other reason, or you yourself want to do it for any other reason then you should immediately reevaluate your choice. If you exercise for the wrong reasons, it is not going to go as well for you.

What exactly do I mean by that? Why should it matter what the reason is that you want to exercise? Well, it is the same reason why it won’t really work to try and better yourself in any other way if the reason doesn’t come from within you.

Let’s say there is someone who wants to exercise because he wants to look more attractive. Maybe he wants to show off to girls or guys or whatever. This is not a good enough reason to keep yourself exercising properly.

And this will bring us to the first, and probably the most important, thing you need to remember when you are trying to get fit.

Consistency

Basically, nothing else even comes close to being as important as consistency. Day in and day out, keeping yourself to a routine that will be able to stick to long term. It doesn’t really matter if do all the other things they say you should if you eventually stop exercising.

And this is a big problem for a lot of people how are just beginning to exercise. They throw themselves into the deep end then jump out of the pool when they realize how deep it is.

This is to say that people push themselves too hard at the beginning, and then give up when they feel like they can’t do it. The problem is, they can do it! They just are trying to sprint before they even know how to walk.

You need to figure out where your level is, and start there. Do not let anyone shame you into thinking you should do more than you can! Exercising is about being a more complete and healthy version of yourself.

This means nobody else can tell you what’s best for you unless they actually have a vested interest in helping you such as a personal trainer or a friend that actually knows about fitness and how to help you.

So, try different workouts. Talk to somebody who can actually help you and has the knowledge to properly help you. If you are starting off too intensive, don’t give up! It’s not all our nothing!

Just dial it back a bit! Try switching to a workout that’s a bit lighter. When you work out, it should feel like it’s challenging you, and you have to push yourself a bit, but not so much that it feels impossible.

Diet

Another important thing to remember when you want to get fit is that diet is probably most of the battle. You can exercise all you like, but if you don’t diet properly, get the proper nutrients you need, and are intaking the proper amount of calories, you are going to have a hard time.

So, the biggest tip I would give for this is to just simply learn how to cook for yourself. This will allow you to customize your diet to fit your needs and your tastes.

Yes, you heard me right, fit your tastes! This goes right back to my previous point about consistency. You need a diet you will be able to stick to consistently as well!

A lot of people have the problem where they go on some extreme Ketogenic diet or whatever and they end up ditching it in a couple of weeks. Why? They like carbohydrates too much!

So, the trick is to make a diet that you really like to eat but is also healthy for you. Look for different foods that you can enjoy but are high in nutrients and low in empty calories.

For instance, most people think of ‘salad’ as a diet food. Yet, to them, a salad is a bowl of romaine lettuce and tomatoes. Some people might like this, a lot of other people do not like salads like this.

But, what about a salad made from Lentils, Quinoa, Fried Onions, Sweet Potato, Avocado, and maybe some mushrooms or chicken to add some savory flavors in there? This tastes like a cooked delicious meal but is packed with nutrients and fibers.

See how if you learn what you like, you can make it into something you will really enjoy? This is absolutely the number one reason I was able to lose weight and keep it off. I didn’t take my dieting to an extreme! I know I wouldn’t be able to stick with that.

Patience

I would say that in order of importance, Patience comes out right under consistency. If not perhaps on the same level as consistency. Why is this, and how is patience going to help you get fit?

The simple answer is, you are not going to have six pack abs overnight. If that is a goal you have to show how far you’ve come, then you are probably going to have to work for that for a while.

Often I find what happens is that people are really motivated to exercise, and they really give it their all. Then, they hit what’s called the “plateau.” This is where it seems like you aren’t improving very much for a while.

However, all you need to do is push past this! Especially when losing weight, the plateau can be a very big demotivator. You lose what’s called your “wet weight” rather quickly at first. Maybe you lose a pound or two a week.

But then, you stop. This is the most crucial point. This is where you are actually going to start burning fat and losing weight. You just need to have patience with yourself to see the gradual changes over time.

One tip I could give to help those of us who might struggle with having patience is to take pictures of yourself every week, or every month. This will allow you to keep track of your progress, and actually see the changes you have made.

Remember, you probably won’t be able to tell because you are seeing the gradual change unfold in front of you. So, taking pictures is a  great way to see the distance you’ve traveled without even realizing it.

Patience also applies to exercise itself. Many people don’t realize how important resting is when you are working out. The rest period in between sets, the rest days you take in between workouts, can be just as important as the exercise itself.

When you rest, it’s when your body is able to gather its strength. It also is when your body will be doing the work in your body to build muscle. So, don’t be ashamed or impatient with your resting!

Now, you should also be careful not to overdo it. Rest enough to be able to continue, but not so much that you aren’t pushing your body at all. Like most things, you need to find that delicate balance.

Friend

One final tip I can give for those people who are serious about getting more fit but find that they struggle with consistency or motivation is to work out with a friend, or simply someone other than yourself.

This could be a sibling, cousin, personal trainer, Gym Bro, or whoever else. Just bring someone with you who can help motivate you to be consistent and motivated in your exercises.

It can really help to know that you are not alone. Someone else is with you on your journey, and you are going to grow together. It can also be a great way to build a stronger bond with that person.

You both have struggled both physically and mentally together, yet are still climbing higher. It really does build a special connection to see that with someone else.
