AEW President Tony Khan yesterday announced the creation of another title in AEW: the National Championship.
The inaugural champion will be crowned at Full Gear later this month in a Casino Gauntlet match.
The announcement was made on a live stream on X, with Khan and Tony Schiavone. Khan said that he misses seeing the National Championship on TBS and wanted to revive the title for quite a while. Khan said that the title will be defended across multiple promotions.
Ricochet, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin are the first three who were announced for the Casino Gauntlet match.
The original National Championship was created in 1980 for Georgia Championship Wrestling.
