AEW President Tony Khan said during a media call with reporters ahead of Redemption yesterday that he will be granting Tay Melo her release.
News came out recently that Melo asked for her release but was initially denied. Khan said the request was only done a few weeks ago contrary to what was reported and took him by surprise.
Melo last wrestled on the June 6 episode of Collision, teaming up with Anna Jay to take on AEW Women’s Tag Team champions Divine Dominion.
Khan added that Melo’s justification for her release was that she wanted to step away from the business and is planning to grant her her wish.
The Brazilian star has been wrestling for AEW since 2020 after a four-year stint with WWE.
