New AEW TV deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to be announced next week

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Warner Bros. Discovery and AEW will be announcing their new television deal next week during the WBD upfronts event.

The event will take place at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on Wednesday, May 17.

AEW’s new Saturday night television show which is tentatively titled Collision will also be announced on Wednesday. The show is rumored to kick off on June 17 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois with the return of CM Punk.

There are many figures floating online about how much WBD is paying AEW but at this point, nothing is truly confirmed. It is believed however that AEW is getting a solid increase in TV rights, allowing them to stay in the market and attract top stars.

The current TV deal ends at the conclusion of this year and the new one will see WBD properties getting the exclusivity on AEW shows, which explains why Dark and Dark: Elevation ended on YouTube.
