Mercedes Mone loses the CMLL Women’s title to Persephone

Mercedes Mone continued to shed her title belts and lost the CMLL Women’s title against Persephone yesterday in the main event of the La Noche de la Amazonas event.

Persephone managed to get the best out of Mone after an almost 19-minute match, winning clean after a frog splash. During the match, Mone also ended up showered with beer courtesy of some individuals at ringside. Perhaps it was some revenge after Mone put on a lucha mask at the beginning of the match, taunted the fans, and gave them the double finger followed by a DX crotch chop.

Following the match, the whole CMLL women’s locker room emptied to celebrate with the new champion.

This ended Mone’s 209-day reign as CMLL Women’s champion. She won it from Zeuxis at the Grand Slam: Mexico show in June of last year.

It is Persephone’s first run with the title. Persephone is also part of the AEW roster with a dual CMLL/AEW contract.
