Matt Hardy explains why Jeff refused WWE Hall of Fame induction

During a Twitch stream yesterday, Matt Hardy explained why his brother Jeff refused to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

After Jeff was released from WWE, the former champion received a call to see if he agrees to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this April. Jeff refused, but now Matt gave a detailed reason why.

According to Matt, Jeff asked WWE if the induction was going to be him and Matt as the Hardy Boyz together. The answer was obviously no because Matt is under an AEW deal and he can’t appear on WWE television.

“And Jeff said ‘well, that’s a hard no.’ He definitely stood up for the team of the Hardy Boyz,” Matt said.

Meanwhile, speculation is running rampant that Jeff will be the one appearing tomorrow as the one entering the forbidden door and slamming it shut. Tony Khan’s wording means that whoever is coming in will not be going back to his previous workplace anytime soon, hinting at burning bridges.

Matt said that he doesn’t think it will be Jeff who will be appearing but said that Tony Khan has a lot of money and wouldn’t be shocked if Tony bought out Jeff’s remaining contract to appear on Wednesday.

“Maybe he bought out his contract. And maybe it is happening early. Who knows,” Matt said.

Jeff Hardy is still part of the 90-day no-compete as he was released in early December.
