Kofi says TKO wanted more than 50% pay cut for new WWE deal

Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Kofi and Austin Creed discussed leaving WWE, with Kofi revealing that TKO wanted them to take more than the 50% pay cut which was reported online.

“I will say, it was more than 50%, it was more,” Kofi told Helwani.

“Like the compensation is a big part of it for sure but again the bigger part of it is being able to go out and live your dream in the way you want to live it out and be appreciated for it,” he continued.

He said that both he and Creed took everything under consideration and they knew leaving was the only path they had to take.

“It was scary at times with the uncertainty and everything but sometimes you gotta do, you just gotta go through and face the fear and you have to keep on going and believe in yourself,” Kofi said.

Creed added that when he was at his kids’ football practice, he received a call with a 203 area code, which covers Stamford as well. At first he thought nothing about it and then he remembered it was just after Mania and usually releases take place during that time of the year.

Eventually, he got a call from Kofi who explained TKO called with the news and what they offered, after which they decided they gotta go as the offer did not work out for them.
