Kenny Omega discusses negotiating with WWE and contract with AEW

During an interview with Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Kenny Omega revealed the details of his new contract with All Elite Wrestling and how far WWE went to get him prior to him signing the deal with his buddies.

Omega said that people warned him about negotiating with WWE and how not an easy process it is so he went in with the lowest of expectations but was surprised with what he encountered, saying it was anything but what his friends told him.

“The most surprising thing to me was just how accommodating and how cool it was to discuss future with WWE,” Omega said in the interview. “I didn’t think they’d ever be in the running.” He added that he has nothing but great things to say about WWE but joining All Elite Wrestling was the best thing for him and the most exciting choice he’s done in his career.

The former IWGP Heavyweight champion revealed that he signed a four-year deal with the new promotion and he has a clause in the contract that specifically states he can appear in New Japan Pro Wrestling anytime he wants and wrestle for NJPW assuming the company still wants him there. Omega said this was the largest contract he’s ever signed and feels that it was the right choice at the end of the day.
