Jim Ross underwent successful brain surgery this morning at a hospital in Norman, Oklahoma.
Conrad Thompson, who co-hosts the Grilling JR podcast, said that he heard from Ross’ daughter that everything went well and JR is expected to be back home by Friday.
“Please keep JR in your prayers as we hope for a speedy recovery,” Thompson wrote.
The surgery was done to ease the pressure on his brain by draining extra cerebrospinal fluid through a small hole in the skull via a thin tube.
Ric Flair, one of JR’s longtime friends in the business, wished him a speedy recovery in a post on X.
“To my dear friend Jim Ross who I’ve known since the 80s. You and Lawler, as a team, represented the best pair of announcers in the history of our business, and I’ve known them all,” Flair wrote. “I wish you a speedy recovery from your brain surgery today! You have to stay strong and make it through this brother! You’ve been a warrior your whole life.”
Prior to surgery, JR said that his contract with AEW expires this month and has no idea if he will be retained.
