Jim Ross reveals fall and health issues at Double or Nothing weekend

AEW commentator Jim Ross revealed on this week’s episode of his Grilling JR podcast that he fell last weekend prior to flying to New York for Double or Nothing, describing the whole weekend as “not a good one” for him.

Ross said that his travel person arranged for a Saturday 6AM pick up to fly to New York, something that he lamented because he found no reason why he would he go to NY so early for a pay-per-view which only starts on Sunday night.

“It makes no sense. You know…I’m not 17 anymore,” Ross said.

But JR missed his flight because he fell in his home and his phone was not with him to get help.

“If I had my phone with me, I could have got a little bit of help. As a result of that, I missed my flight,” Ross recounted.

After arriving in his room and then having a drink with fellow commentator Excalibur, Ross said that he went back to his hotel room and his back locked up.

“I laid on the bed, put my ass on the edge of the bed, and just relaxed. Well…little did I know, my back was going to go out on me,” Ross continued. “So now I’m in the hotel with my back out and I can’t function. So it was just a horrible experience.”

JR only did commentary for one match, the one between Jon Moxley and Kyle O’Reilly, and said that if he had known before that he would be flown in just for one match, he would have talked to Tony Khan about it.

JR said that he has to find a doctor now because of his several falls, while also dealing with a neurologist about his dementia/Alzheimer’s risk.

He said that he’s feeling really sore and he has the worst luck sometimes.

“I got to find the right doctor that can get me back rolling, because my legs are really weak. And on Saturday morning, one of my legs just went out from under me. It went like a piece of spaghetti,” Ross added. “So…anyhow, flying back, I could have stayed home, maybe I should have. But I like working, and I love pro wrestling!”
