David Finlay joins AEW, makes debut on Dynamite

Former NJPW star David Finlay showed up unexpectedly on Dynamite last night and reunited with former NJPW buddies Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd.

Finlay’s arrival came after Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy defeated Connors and Kidd in a tag team match and the German star attacked the faces with a shillelagh following the match. Connors and Kidd recovered and ganged up on Allin and Cassidy, with the trio leaving them lying in the ring.

The 32-year-old, who is the son of WWE’s Fit Finlay, wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling for almost 11 years, although he did have stints with ROH, CMLL, and Impact Wrestling during that time.

Finlay was rumored to be going to WWE after his NJPW contract expired but it’s being reported that AEW’s financial offer far exceeded that of WWE’s and Finlay decided to go to AEW instead.

Afer their segment aired, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that Kidd, Connors, and Finlay are now All Elite.
