Darby Allin wins the AEW World title on Dynamite

A new AEW World champion was crowned on Dynamite Spring BreakThru as fan favorite Darby Allin defeated MJF in the main event of the show.

Allin beat the champion in a super quick match, hitting a low blow as the ref wasn’t looking, a Scorpion Death Drop, and four Coffin Drops in succession for the pinfall victory.

The locker room emptied to celebrate with Allin after the match as his family cheered on from ringside with confetti raining from the ceiling. Sting also joined in and gave his former tag team partner a huge hug.

Prior to the match, Sting showed up in a backstage segment while Renee Paquette was talking to Allin. Sting hyped up Allin and told him that it’s his time now.

Dynamite started with MJF unaware that Allin won a title shot after he defeated Andrade El Idolo during the Dynasty pay-per-view and tried to get out of the match by saying he was not prepared. Bryan Danielson, on commentary, then broke the news to MJF that Tony Khan has given him around an hour to prepare, with the match moved from the opening to the main event. He was also told that if he didn’t defend the title, he would be stripped of it.
