CM Punk lashes out at Dave Meltzer and Chris Jericho in now-deleted IG post

In a now-deleted Instagram post, former AEW champion CM Punk lashed out at Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, calling him a liar, and Chris Jericho, calling him a stooge and a liar as well.

Punk’s version of events came after Meltzer responded to a question on his forum about the Moxley/Punk match, saying Punk didn’t want to wrestle and sent a legal letter to AEW. It took the intervention of Tony Khan, according to Meltzer, for Punk to finally show up after his injury.

“I wasn’t cleared to come back to wrestle yet. Then plan was to wrestle at the ppv. I sat and listened to moxleys Rocky three idea,” Punk said in the post, saying that he explained to Mox that he never saw a Rocky movie before and thought the idea sucked. “But if the boss wanted to do it, whatever.”

Punk said that Moxley said he wouldn’t lose to him, something he never experienced before. “I just laughed. I asked Tony if this was what he wanted. He said yes. He’s the boss so I said okay but I’d need to be cleared first,” Punk continued.

The former champ said that the office kept telling him that the match could be just a squash and he didn’t need to be cleared, but he didn’t agree to that stipulation as his health is more important.

“Dave Meltzer is a liar. Jericho is a liar and a stooge. There were plans but plans always change but I’ll never put a company above my health ever again,” Punk concluded.

The Instagram post was later deleted, with Jericho poking fun at Punk by posting on his own Instagram a photo of Matt Hardy with the word “Delete.”
