Andrade El Idolo, the last man to wrestle Pac before his untimely death, recounted how he got to find out about the tragedy in a post on social media.
Andrade said he was just arriving home in Miami and decided to take a break from social media for a few days before he got a call from WWE’s Penta asking him if he knew more information.
The AEW National champion wrote that he did not believe what Penta told him and was hoping it was just a lie and a rumor, but soon after, he started getting calls and texts from other wrestlers, and eventually AEW confirmed the news.
“He looked so good on Saturday, we finished the match, and Ben was happy about heading back to London soon to see his family,” Andrade wrote. “I never imagined it would be his last match, we both knew we had more to give. He was someone I always wanted to wrestle, and I enjoyed sharing the ring with him.”
He continued, “My friend, you were incredible inside the ring nobody like you and outside of the ring you had a big heart! We were in so many of the same promotions at the same time but never faced each other (NJPW, NXT, WWE), and we only got to face off three times in AEW!”
