AEW loses major ally at Warner as TNT/TBS General Manager exits merged company

Brett Weitz, the General Manager of TNT, TBS, & truTV who helped AEW expand their footprint on WarnerMedia, is transitioning out of his current role within the next 30 days according to Deadline.com.

Weitz helped AEW get their Rampage show on the air as well as the Battle of the Belts specials and was instrumental in the network’s negotiations with Tony Khan’s promotion. This is considered a major loss for AEW as they lost a big ally within the network.

His departure is due to the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger and his position was eliminated because of restructuring.

Weitz is also credited for the launch of Snowpiercer, the revival of Wipeout, Impractical Jokers, and other shows. He has been with the company for the past 14 years.

Warner Bros. Discovery will be doing their 2022-2023 Upfront presentation at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden on May 18 and AEW is expected to be part of that.
