AEW paid tribute to Tanea Brooks, better known to fans as Rebel, yesterday on Dynamite as she battles through ALS.
Rebel, and her longtime friend Britt Baker, kicked off the broadcast with The Waiting Room, featuring special guests Persephone and Hikaru Shida.
Later in the broadcast, Baker, Persephone, and Shida teamed up to take on Maya World, Hyan, and Thunder Rosa in a trios match which had an emotional ending, sending the crowd into tears.
As the match came to a close, Rebel came down the ramp in her wheelchair and gave Baker her glove. Baker, clearly trying not to cry, put them on and submitted World with the Lockjaw finisher while Shida hugged Rebel at ringside.
After the match, Baker sat on Rebel’s lap and the two went up the ramp on the wheelchair. As they turned around, both of them were shown crying, ending one of the most feel-good moments ever on Dynamite.
A video package on Rebel, her role in AEW, and her fight against ALS aired immediately after.
