Danielson will not do “Yes” chants to respect WWE’s intellectual property

Don’t expect Bryan Danielson to do the “Yes” chants himself in AEW, and not because legally he can’t, but because he wants to respect WWE’s intellectual property.

During a 30-minute appearance on Rasslin with Brandon Walker to promote tonight’s Dynamite, the former WWE champion revealed that he informed WWE of his AEW debut ahead of time and had a conversation with WWE’s Kevin Dunn before he made his debut.

“I’m not doing it myself because I respect WWE’s intellectual property,” Danielson said, although he finds no problem if the fans do it.

“They haven’t threatened anything legally. They asked me, politely, to respect their intellectual property…even with some of the things that couldn’t be legally enforced,” he said. “I’m trying my best to do that.”

Danielson will be participating in what he’s calling the biggest match of his career tonight on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam against Kenny Omega in front of nearly 20,000 fans. The match will not be for the title and that will probably come later on, but the significance of this show for the company will mean a lot.

Danielson wrote a thank you letter to WWE and its fans which was posted by The Player Tribune yesterday.
