TNA’s Leon Slater to take on Oba Femi for NXT title at New Year’s Evil

TNA star and X Division champion Leon Slater won the fatal four-way number one contenders match for the NXT title last night, defeating Dion Lennox, Myles Borne, and Joe Hendry.

With this win, the young British star earned a shot at the NXT title on Tuesday, January 6 at the New Year’s Evil broadcast.

The ending of the match came after Slater hit his swanton 450 splash finisher on Borne while Hendry and Lennox brawled outside.

After the match, NXT champion Oba Femi came out for a staredown.

The main event for New Year’s Evil was supposed to be Femi vs Je’Von Evans, who won the Iron Survivor Challenge match to earn the shot but Evans cashed in his opportunity last week and got screwed over by Ricky Saints.
