NXT Halloween Havoc saw a total of three title changes out of five title matches last night.
It was Blake Monroe who was responsible for the first title change, defeating Zaria to become the new NXT Women’s North American champion. Zaria was defending the title on behalf of Sol Ruca, who is injured and unable to compete, but the former Mariah May picked up her first gold since arriving a few months ago. Ruca’s reign came to a close after 189 days.
The NXT Women’s champion also changed hands in what many thought was a surprise ending, with Tatum Paxley defeating Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne to become the new queen of NXT. The ending came when The Culling ran out for interference and Izzi Dame snatched the title and pretended to hit Paxley, but Paxley moved away and Jayne avoided the collision, knocking out Dame. That was enough distraction for Paxley to hit the Cemetery Driver on Jayne for the pinfall. Jayne held on to the title for 151 days and this marked Paxley’s first gold in NXT.
The third title change came at the expense of The Hardys, who lost the NXT Tag Team titles against DarkState in a Broken Rules match. The match had a lot of tables and ladders spots, with Jeff Hardy doing some of his usual crazy stunts. DarkState won when they hit a Doomsday Device off a ladder through a table on Brother Nero. The Hardys’ run with the titles only lasted 18 days.
Ethan Page and Ricky Saints were the only ones who successfully defended their respective gold on the show.
