King and Queen of the Ring tournaments returning with SummerSlam title shots on the line

The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments are returning next week and the finals will take place at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia later this month.

The two winners of these tournaments will receive title shots of their respective brands come SummerSlam in August.

The announcement was done by Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce on last night’s episode of Smackdown.

Four-way qualifying matches will act as the first round of these tournaments and these will be brand specific. The following week the second round will have Raw vs Smackdown matches and then whoever wins those second round matches move on to the finals.

Last year’s event saw Gunther and Nia Jax win the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, both successfully winning their respective titles at SummerSlam afterward.
