John Cena says his in-ring career will end at 50 years old

Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week, 16-time world champion John Cena said that he will retire for sure from in-ring competition at the age 50, calling that number the “absolute line in the sand.”

Cena said that he’d like to retire before that, but if it doesn’t happen, on his 50th birthday he will tweet, “Peace out, see ya!”

Cena noted that he’s forever grateful to WWE, something which was his passion 24/7 throughout the years, but now he has a lot of other avenues he’s curious about.

The leader of the Cenation will be 47 years old next month so that window is closing down pretty quickly. He has been teasing an appearance at WrestleMania 40, but with several movies and TV series on the horizon for him, wrestling is probably out of the question due to insurance.

He will be filming the second season of The Peacemaker in the next few months. His latest movie, Ricky Stanicky, is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
