AEW commentator Kevin Kelly has been fired from the company according to Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch.
Kelly, who has been working the Collision commentator booth alongside with Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness, was not at the Collision tapings this week. While he served as the lead commentator for the show in the first few months, he was eventually replaced by Schiavone in October of last year.
Kelly was fired due to comments he made on social media last week after he wrote that ROH commentator and fellow AEW employee Ian Riccaboni libeled him.
“The idea of what I bring to the table is lost there because Ian libeled me,” Kelly wrote. “So I sit on the bench, valued by my peers, waiting to get my number called.”
Kelly added that he keeps asking why he keeps getting pushed aside.
“It’s ok because there is no one better than me. Ask the ones that know and they’ll tell you,” he continued.
Kelly worked for New Japan Pro-Wrestling doing the English commentary for their shows before joining AEW full time in June of last year.
