Debut, return, and surprise appearance on NXT Roadblock

A debut, a return, a surprise appearance, and a number one contender for the NXT title were all part of last night’s Roadblock episode of NXT on USA Network.

Tony D’Angelo, the former NXT Tag Team title holder, earned himself an NXT title shot at the Stand & Deliver event next month against Ilja Dragunov after he defeated Carmelo Hayes in a number one contender’s match.

Hayes was distracted by Trick Williams’ music which was played towards the end of the match and then hit his finisher to secure the victory. D’Angelo then said that he was the one who came up with the idea of the music…but also introduced Trick Williams who came out to take Hayes.

Borgan Finlay, the son of Fit Finlay, made his debut on the show under the name of Uriah Connors. The 21-year-old wrestled the returning Shawn Spears but his debut started with a loss to the former ’10.’

Popular female star Sol Luca returned to NXT on the show as well after she spent most of 2023 on the sidelines due to an ACL injury. Ruca attacked Blair Davenport during her match against Fallon Henley.

And former NXT General Manager William Regal made his first appearance in front of the NXT crowd to interrupt new NXT Heritage Cup champion Charlie Dempsey. Dempsey is Regal’s son and Regal said that he will be watching out on this development and the No Quarter Catch Crew. Dempsey told him that he will be defending it better than Regal ever did.
