Ole Anderson, a founding member of the legendary Four Horsemen faction, has passed away at the age of 81.

The news was broken by fellow star Ricky Morton in a post on Instagram. No cause of death was announced.

Real name Alan Robert Rogowski, Anderson started his pro wrestling career in 1968 for JCP and tag teamed with Gene Anderson as the Minnesota Wrecking Crew.

Anderson formed the Four Horsemen along with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and JJ Dillion in 1986 but was kicked out of the group a year later and replaced by Lex Luger.

After his in-ring wrestling career was over, Anderson worked backstage for WCW, including as a booker and later as a referee, before taking over the promotion after Bill Watts left in the early 90s.

Anderson was removed from his power after Eric Bischoff ascended to the WCW throne in 1994.
