Putting WWE rumors to bed, Sareee signs with Japan promotion Sukeban

Just days after there were rumors that WWE were after Japanese star Sareee again, Sukeban, a Japanese female wrestling league, today announced that Sareee signed a multi-year contract.

Her name popped up as someone that WWE were after to join IYO SKY and Kairi Sane. The 27-year-old had a very uneventful two-year stint with WWE in NXT under the name of Sarray and her career never got going there, eventually departing the company in March of this year.

In the press release issued by Sukeban, it was announced that her debut match with the promotion will see her in a four-way match pitting one member from each of Sukeban’s four stables. The match will see Sareee (Cherry Bomb Girls) take on Countess Saori (Dangerous Liaisons), Atomic Banshee (Vandals), and Babyface (Harajuku Stars), with one fall to a finish.

The press release also referred to her as a former WWE star “who is widely regarded as one of the most talented and underutilized pro-wrestlers in the world.”

“Sareee epitomizes the spirit of All Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling, serving as a link to the glory days of Joshi pro-wrestling,” the press release said.
