Cody Rhodes on leaving AEW: “It was the easiest thing I ever did”

In an interview with GQ Sports discussing his new documentary on Peacock, Cody Rhodes described leaving AEW as the easiest thing he ever did.

The real reason why Rhodes left the company remains a secret as both he and Tony Khan decided to not speak about it although Rhodes said it was a personal issue.

Asked by GQ if it was hard to close that chapter in his life considering he helped create AEW from the ground up, Cody responded, “No, it was the easiest thing I ever did. It’s because I had a personal issue that I wasn’t going through, over, or around. I was just going to steer clear of it.”

He added that he wants to look at what he did over at AEW and see it as a wonderful time and beautiful memory but it was time to move on.

“You know, all good things. It certainly was like that with me. So I mean it not in a negative way, like I was happy to burn rubber and speed out, but it just wasn’t a decision that was difficult for me at all. Or for Brandi,” he continued.

American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes is streaming now on Peacock.
