Nick Khan says WWE returning to India in September 2023

Speaking at the Moffett Nathanson’s Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, WWE Chief Executive Officer Nick Khan confirmed that the company is going back to India in September of this year.

Khan did not elaborate on what kind of event it will be or if it will be a Network special.

WWE was scheduled to go to Hyderabad in January of this year but that show was postponed after India’s largest TV providers – Sony and Zee – announced they were merging late last year. During conference calls it was noted that they would be visiting the country after the merger was complete. Sony holds the TV rights for WWE in the country.

WWE taped a special for India during the pandemic titled Superstar Spectacle, showcasing most of the Indian talent they had on the roster, and the show aired on January 26, 2021 as part of India’s Republic Day celebrations. WWE later said that over 20 million people saw the broadcast on Sony.
