16-time world champion John Cena has been cast in the upcoming Heads of State movie for Amazon Studios along with Idris Elba.

The news, reported by The Hollywood Reporter, also says that the movie will be directed by Russian-born Ilya Naishuller. Amazon bought the rights for the movie in October 2020.

“Plot details are being kept vague but the project is being described as Air Force One meets Midnight Run, centered on a mismatched pair who are in over their heads in a high-stakes situation,” THR says about the synopsis of the movie.

Peter Safran and John Rickard are producing Heads of State via The Safran Company while Harrison Query wrote the initial script and Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec wrote the most recent draft.
