Vince McMahon announces retirement from WWE

The day that many thought it would never come arrived today as Vince McMahon, arguably the greatest professional wrestling promoter in our lifetime, announced that he is retiring.

At 77, time for me to retire,” McMahon wrote in a tweet. “Thank you, WWE Universe. Then. Now. Forever. Together.” McMahon also added the hash tags #WWE and #thankful.

His retirement probably comes thanks to pressure from the WWE Board of Directors and other WWE business partners due to the investigation he is currently embroiled in. And the bad news does not stop there as more stories are set to come out over the next weeks exposing McMahon of more hush money deals.

McMahon voluntarily stepped down from his role as Chairman and CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment a few weeks ago while the investigation is ongoing. His daughter, Stephanie, assumed the role of interim CEO and Chairwoman.

Today, probably not by coincidence, Paul “Triple H” Levesque also assumed the role of EVP of Talent Relations.
