WWE and AEW television base of Florida lifts off all local COVID-19 mandates

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is lifting off all local COVID-19 emergency mandates immediately, making it easier for companies like WWE and AEW to continue to operate in the state.

WWE, taping their shows in Tampa and Orlando, and AEW, taping their shows in Jacksonville, now have the option to abandon all social distancing and mask rules that were in effect before. DeSantis is also issuing an executive order to outlaw all local COVID-19 emergency mandates in the state effective July 1.

The Governor said that with 15.5 million COVID-19 shots administered so far in a state of just over 21 million people, he wants people to enjoy themselves and live freely in the state of Florida.

Both WWE and AEW have used caution at their tapings, with AEW allowing only a minimum number of fans inside the Daily’s Place while WWE has not allowed any fans in for Raw and Smackdown and has around 100 fans per taping for NXT.

With no capacity limits at stadiums and arenas, both companies can run full house if they want to.

There are around 5,000 new COVID-19 cases per week in Florida right now.
