Jim Smallman named new head writer for NXT UK brand

UK-based Inside The Ropes is reporting that the NXT UK brand has a new head writer after Glen Joseph left the company due to personal reasons.

Joseph, the co-owner of PROGRESS Wrestling, has been the head writer of NXT UK and now the 35-year-old is surrendering his reigns to fellow PROGRESS Wrestling co-owner Jim Smallman. Joseph was one of those who had allegations against him when the #SpeakingOut movement picked up momentum a few months ago.

The “changing of the guard” was announced during a virtual meeting with talent on Thursday and Smallman will be heading up the television tapings in the absence of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Matt Bloom, all of whom cannot travel to the United Kingdom. The trio still participate in the tapings virtually and in real-time using remote production methods and Smallman still has to answer to them in the overall hierarchy of the brand.
