Roman Reigns returns at SummerSlam…with a vengeance!

After an absence of five months, Roman Reigns made his return to the WWE yesterday at SummerSlam, viciously attacking both Braun Strowman and the new Universal champion The Fiend Bray Wyatt.

Reigns hit the ring as soon as Wyatt covered Strowman for the three count, winning the title for the second time. Sporting a Wreck Everyone And Leave black shirt, Reigns went to town on both Superstars, taking them out with several chair shots and even some mean looking spears. Reigns then held the Universal title up high as he stood over The Fiend.

Reigns was supposed to take on Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 but just a few days before the show was going to be taped, Reigns pulled out due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The former champ and his wife also had newborn twins and Reigns said that he’s not going to work for the safety of his family because while he trusted his fellow Superstars in the ring with his life, he couldn’t trust them with his family’s life on what they do outside the ring. WWE never really explained why Reigns pulled out of the match on television and replaced him with Braun Strowman, who eventually won the Universal title from Goldberg.

At SummerSlam, Reigns acted more of a heel so it will be interesting to see where his character goes from now. For once, the tag line used of “you’ll never see it coming” lived up to its hype.
