The new NXT Women’s champion Io Shirai thanked fans for their support in a message on Twitter.

“At last, I can call myself champion,” Shirai wrote, becoming a champion after her fourth attempt. “When I think about the tough & painful times, I was able to achieve this, largely in part to your support!”

Shirai said she is truly grateful for everyone who gave her courage and thanked everyone from the bottom of her heart.

The Genius of the Sky also wrote a message aimed at her Japanese fans, saying that it was a longtime coming for her to be crowned champion. She said that the journey brought her experience and trust and now she’s a champion who is celebrated by fans around the world.
