A new era kicks off tonight with All Elite Wrestling

While the gang of The Elite have already successfully produced a pay-per-view as an independent show back in September of last year, tonight’s Double or Nothing is the first official show under the brand new All Elite Wrestling banner.

Tonight’s show will mark a new beginning in the world of professional wrestling and add another chapter in the history books. Just months after its inception, with a television deal on TNT locked, AEW is ready to bring an alternative option to wrestling fans who might be fed up with WWE. It’s not going to appeal to everyone, but with billions in the bank thanks to the Khan family, AEW will try – over the course of the next several months and years – be a competition to WWE, competition that is so badly needed.

Nothing is a guaranteed success, but the initial news is encouraging. Double or Nothing is sold out at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It’s the first wrestling pay-per-view in MGM since the closure of WCW. The $50 tag price on the show might put some people off, but real wrestling fans will tune in nonetheless and give AEW a shot. Those who watch it illegally will still complain about it as if they paid the $50 anyway.

What the folks behind All Elite Wrestling have done over the past couple of months is nothing short of remarkable. A solid start tonight will certainly add momentum heading into the next show.

To survive in today’s market you need money. The Khan family has a lot of that. It now depends how many they’re willing to pump in and lose, at least in the first few years. Being on television requires money. Talent requires money. A good show production requires money. Hopefully, with fan support – be it buying merchandise, watching live on TV, and buying expensive pay-per-views – All Elite Wrestling will live on, giving a much-needed employment option for those in the wrestling business.
