Adam Cole received a shot at the vacant NXT title after he won a fatal five-way match on NXT TV last night.

With Tommaso Ciampa out injured, the NXT title was vacated and Triple H ordered a fatal five-way match between Cole, Ricochet, Aleister Black, Matt Riddle, and Velveteen Dream.

The main event of NXT Takeover: New York now has Adam Cole taking on Johnny Gargano for the title. Originally, Gargano was supposed to take on Ciampa for the title after the two former tag team partners turned on each other during last week’s show.
