Crown Jewel still on unless U.S. government prevents it from happening

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that the Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2 will go on as expected unless WWE gets a direct order from President Trump or the Department of State to cancel the show.

The status of the show is somewhat in limbo due to the ongoing situation with the alleged murder of a Washington Post columnist inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Tickets for the show, which will take place at the 25,000-seater King Saud University Stadium, have not even gone on sale yet.

Meanwhile, other industry insiders are adding to the story that several WWE Superstars who are scheduled to make the trip do not want to travel to the country but if the show does indeed go on, they have little options.

The Saudi trip is a big moneymaker for WWE and Crown Jewel will make more money than any regular pay-per-view on the WWE calendar this year.

WWE.COM is pushing the World Cup qualifying match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre for tonight’s Monday Night Raw and while also promoting the Crown Jewel pay-per-view, there’s no mention of Riyadh or Saudi Arabia as the location for the show.
