A new title in NXT was introduced at last night’s television tapings and its inaugural champion will be crowned at NXT Takeover: New Orleans on the eve of WrestleMania 34.

The announcement of the NXT North American title was made by NXT General Manager William Regal, who also made a massive six-man ladder match that will determine the first champion.

The segment of the title announcement also led to the return of EC3, the former Impact Wrestling champion who has rejoined WWE. EC3 thought the title was for him but Regal had other plans, and it was later announced that Ricochet, Killian Dain, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan, and Adam Cole will be his opponents in the ladder match at Takeover.
