The next number one contender for the WWE title will be announced next week as Mahal’s previous two challengers – Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton – will go one on one with the winner getting a shot at the title.

The two teamed up last night to take on Mahal and Rusev in the main event and the night finished with Orton sneaking up on Nakamura and hitting him with the RKO.

Mahal and Orton wrestled three times already, at Backlash, Money In The Bank, and Battleground in a Punjabi Prison match. Nakamura had one shot at Mahal at SummerSlam.

It still remains unclear when the title shot would take place as the next Smackdown pay-per-view is in October. September will only see one Raw pay-per-view on the 24th.
