Brooklyn to host SummerSlam 2018 for fourth consecutive year

WWE can’t get enough of Brooklyn and the Barclays Center as the New York Post reported earlier today that WWE has agreed to come back to the city next year for SummerSlam 2018.

This will be the fourth year in a row that Brooklyn will host SummerSlam and the show has been held there ever since it left Los Angeles and the STAPLES Center. LA hosted SummerSlam for six consecutive years.

“Our partners in New York have worked tirelessly to help create the incremental growth of SummerSlam week through the presentation of not only our ticketed and fan events at the Barclays Center, but also through the community-based events taking place in the city’s five boroughs,” said John Saboor, WWE’s executive vice president of special events. “We are very proud of that and the work that we have done.”

Along with SummerSlam comes NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, Raw, and Smackdown as well. “Having [WWE] here just does so much [for us],” Keith Sheldon, executive vice president for programming for Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment said. “These are destination events. These are not properties like a concert that is hitting the next city 100 miles away the next night. This is a one-off, mega-event.”
