WWE Hall of Famer Mr. Fuji passes away at age 82

WWE today announced that Harry Fujiwara, better known as Hall of Famer Mr. Fuji passed away this morning at the age of 82.

Fuji made his debut in the then WWWF in 1972, working for Vince McMahon Sr, tag teaming with Toru Tanaka. He spent two years then before leaving and then returned in 1977 for another one year run. In 1981, after wrestling for Georgia Championship Wrestling, he started with the World Wrestling Federation and had a long career well after he retired from professional wrestling in 1985.

Soon after he hung up his boots, Mr. Fuji went into managing. His 10 year career as a manager saw him leading Superstars such as George “The Animal” Steel, Don Muraco, Demolition, The Powers of Pain, The Orient Express, The Berzerker, and Yokozuna.

In his long career associated with the WWE, Fuji won the WWWF/WWF Tag Team titles on five different occasions and in 2007 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Don Muraco. Fuji, who was born in Hawaii, attended the Hall of Fame in a wheelchair.
