Nikki Bella’s 301-day title reign comes to an end

Nikki Bella’s reign as the Divas champion came to a halt last night at Night of Champions after she tapped out to Charlotte’s Figure 8, putting an end to her record-breaking 301 consecutive days as Divas champion.

Nikki’s two title reigns now span a total of 307 days, making her the second longest champion when combining all reigns. AJ Lee sits in first with 406 combined days over three different title runs. Nikki surpassed Maryse to take the second spot just over a month and a half ago.

“The Queen will not be off her throne for long! You just wait and see,” Nikki wrote on her Twitter after her loss. She then wrote that at least there’s still one champ in the family, referring to her boyfriend John Cena who won the United States title from Seth Rollins.

The new champion, Charlotte, dedicated her win to the American Dream Dusty Rhodes and her brother Reid, both of whom have passed away. “#17 for this family,” she wrote on Twitter afterward, posting a photo with her dad Ric Flair. She also posted a photo with Stephanie and Triple H, and one with Bayley, both posing with their respective titles. “I don’t really have words at the moment… NXT STRONG. NXT WOMEN! #PCB Dreams do come true.
