Ethan Carter III becomes the new TNA World Heavyweight champion

Ethan Carter III  has become the new TNA World Heavyweight champion after last night he defeated Kurt Angle during an episode of Impact Wrestling.

The 32 year old Ohio native has become the 17th different TNA champion two years after making his TNA debut. He appeared first on TNA television during Bound For Glory in 2013 and was billed as Dixie Carter’s nephew. He defeated Mr. Anderson to get the number one contender spot and then defeated Angle during the June 25 Impact tapings which aired yesterday. This was the first title in TNA for him.

Carter worked for WWE before joining TNA, spending over a year at Ohio Valley Wrestling, then moving to Florida Championship Wrestling in 2009 and appeared on the fourth season of NXT under the name of Derrick Bateman. He was released from his WWE deal in May 2013.
