WWE Shop removes John Cena t-shirt after threat from beer company

Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet.com is reporting that WWE has decided to halt sales of the John Cena shirt that caused a stir with the Pabst Blue Ribbon beer company after they threatened to send a cease and desist letter.

The shirt has already been removed from WWEShop.com with those who already purchased it now being in possession of a collector’s item. It’s not known if WWE will process orders which haven’t been shipped yet although most likely not.

“As a content creator, WWE respects trademarks and intellectual property, and therefore will not proceed selling the merchandise, despite it being an original design clearly within fair use,” a statement from WWE issued to ProWrestlingSheet read.

The shirt was very similar to the Pabst Blue Ribbon logo and the beer company even posted an image of Cena posing with their shirt side-by-side the WWE gear.
