WWE No Mercy 2017 PPV Pick’Em report

Magnum: Hello everybody! I’M BACK, JACK. It’s @TheMagnumDA returning to Wrestling-Online to write this month’s WWE PPV Pick’Em Report. I’ll be writing these PPV Pick’Em reports for the foreseeable future instead of Monday Night Raw. I had some scheduling conflicts come up on Mondays, but Colin was gracious enough to let me continue to write when I finally had a free moment…the weekend! 😀 In addition to giving you tonight’s card, I’ll be joined by the nefarious Tricky Don and W-O’s very own Colin Vassallo. Colin, thanks for keeping me onboard, brother. See you in New Orleans! Anything else before we get started?

Tricky Don: Well it’s that time again for Tricky Don to see into the future and tell you who will win at No Mercy.  So Magnum and Colin, ya listen to me, you’ll go to the top! You don’t listen to me, you’re never heard from again!

Magnum: Nice Bobby Heenan reference…WrestleMania VI, if I’m not mistaken. May he rest in peace. One of the greatest performers of all-time (he did it all…Manager, Commentator, Wrestler, Host). Off we go!

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz (c) vs. Jason Jordan

Tricky Don: The Miz who is a soon to be father versus Jason Jordan who just found out he has a dad.  Both will be celebrating father’s day next year, so they have that in common.  It feels like they have been teasing putting the strap on Jordan for a while but had him take some big losses to top contenders and now see him in the light of the top competitors.  You will see a good match, but towards the end you will see the ring get messy with all of the Miztourage in the match.  But you don’t need a vacuum cleaner out here: Jason Jordan will be cleaning house himself.  I got baby Angle for the win and new Intercontinental Champion.

Winner: Jason Jordan

Magnum: I think that The Miz could lose the title, and win it back very quickly for an eighth title reign. So this is the perfect opportunity to give Jordan the shot in the arm he needs. I’m taking the upset.

Winner: Jason Jordan

Colin: My timer is on waiting for them to pull the plug on the Jason Jordan experiment. He does nothing for me as a singles wrestler. The Miz continues his reign as IC champ.

Winner: The Miz

WWE Women’s Championship (Raw) Fatal Five Way
Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Nia Jax vs. Emma

Tricky Don: My prediction is that they will team up against Nia early on, and she will be sent to the back with an injury.  Asuka will come out and take out the other 4.  This match will end in a no contest.

Winner: No Contest

Magnum: Wow, a No Contest? If I’m not mistaken, there must be a winner. I could see Asuka showing up to challenge the winner, though. Wouldn’t that be quite the set-up. For now, I’ll take Alexa to retain.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Colin: I’d like to think that Bayley would have gone on to win the title at SummerSlam if it wasn’t for her injury. I really like Bliss as the champ, I wasn’t high on her in the past, but she really gives it her all. And she looks pretty damn good too with the title. Bliss wins.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
Neville (c) vs. Enzo Amore

Tricky Don: I feel they have to have Enzo go over and win the belt.  This will draw in viewers to 205 live, since not a lot of people are currently tuning in.  Enzo will be the 2nd person to get out of the dog house, since the Miz is the only one so far.  Enzo will get his first taste of gold, and you can’t teach that.

Winner: Enzo

Magnum: This feels like an Enzo victory, but that doesn’t mean he’ll win the title. I’m going to say Neville gets himself DQ’ed somehow.

Winner: Enzo by DQ

Colin: If Enzo has all the heat they’re saying, then I don’t expect him to win the title. Surely, someone who has major backstage heat would not be rewarded with a title, right? And Neville is really good as the champ.

Winner: Neville

Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
Tricky Don: Great, another match in this feud.  It feels like a placeholder for both superstars.  We have the eater of worlds from Snake Bight, Florida versus the demon king, or maybe just Finn this time.  Have you ever been to Snake Bight? The city limits signs are on the same post.  I heard a rumor that Bray’s mom and dad ran away from home.  With the 50/50 booking in the WWE this match will go against Balor, since he defeated Wyatt at SummerSlam.  I see Wyatt pulling his family back together to help him get the win.  After this Finn will have to start the Balor Club for Survivor Series and New Japan fans will finally be happy.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Magnum: Yeah, I’m really not sure where all of this is going. I think Balor needs a fresh start and a new dance partner. The matches are good, but I kinda see Don’s point: This feels like a place holder. I think that Balor will take this one, leading to one final chapter.

Winner: Finn Balor

Colin: Meh, really not interested in this one to be honest. If they will keep going on with this feud, Wyatt wins, if they’re killing it, Balor wins. 50/50 on this one, I’d say Wyatt.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

WWE Tag Team Championship (Raw)
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

Tricky Don: No Mercy 1999 paved the way for tag teams and ladder matches, when the Hardys took on Edge and Christian in the first ever tag team ladder match.  Although this tag team match will not live up to the match of ’99, it should be a good one still.  I do not think Sheamus and Cesaro will get there win back from dropping the titles at SummerSlam.

Winners: Rollins and Ambrose

Magnum: Okay, just so we’re clear, this isn’t a ladder match. It’s a straight up tag match, and I don’t see Ambrose or Rollins getting pinned by Sheamus or Cesaro on big-time PPV. I think the Shield reunion continues, with a long reign that could take us into the winter.

Winners: Rollins and Ambrose

Colin: The day 2/3 of The Shield loses the titles will be the day when Dean turns on Seth. It’s gotta happen. Not at No Mercy. They will probably try to milk this as much as they can before they pull the trigger. Dean/Seth for the W.

Winners: Rollins and Ambrose

John Cena vs. Roman Reigns
Tricky Don: You both suck!  You both suck! This is what the crowd first chanted when they faced off on Raw for the first time.  I think Cena will put over Reigns, since Cena is part time status.  Since Reigns cannot get over as a face, put him with Cena since both of them will get boed.  This will give the bookers confidence, since Reigns might got a couple of cheers… so they can feel they made the right choice putting him in the main event at WrestleMania.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Magnum: I have loved these promos. I think we’ve seen a new side of Roman Reigns, but this will lead to bigger and better things. The big dog takes it.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Colin: I can’t believe they’re putting this on a B show. Again. Always thought this would main event WrestleMania one day. I thought Cena would be going away to film Bumblebee after SummerSlam, but he continued. Reigns is the heavy favorite so I’ll go with him, but for sure, no matter who wins, there will be round 2.

Winner: Roman Reigns

WWE Universal Championship Match
Brock Lesnar (c) (with Paul Heyman) vs. Braun Strowman

Tricky Don: On Raw, the announcers said Lesnar is going into the match as the underdog for the first time.  The announcers must have forgot that Lesnar took on the Undertaker in 2002 and 2003 at No Mercy during his rookie year, and he won both of them.  Eat, Sleep, Retain the belt so he can defend it against Reigns at WrestleMania, Repeat.  Lesnar will go on to win the match, and his No Mercy Streak will grow to 3 – 0.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

Magnum: I do see Lesnar vs. Reigns II coming down the pike, but that said…I think there’s something in the works here with Braun Strowman. For some reason, I think they will have a two-match series where the title switches hands on both occasions. Since this is Chapter One…

Winner: Braun Strowman (New Universal Champion)

Colin: I can’t believe they’re putting this on a B show. Strowman is quite on a roll at the moment, but I think his time might not be just here yet. Maybe Survivor Series? I’m gonna go with Brock for this one.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

Alright, there you have it! Enjoy tonight’s show! We’ll see you NEXT MONTH!
