WWE acknowledges Chyna’s death, Stephanie McMahon comments

WWE has acknowledged the death of former WWE Superstar Chyna with a statement on WWE.COM and even a tweet from Stephanie McMahon.

“WWE is saddened to learn of reports that Joanie Laurer, best known for competing in WWE as Chyna, has passed away,” the statement read. “A physically striking and talented performer, Chyna was a true sports-entertainment pioneer. Not only was the Superstar dubbed “The Ninth Wonder of the World” a founding member of the groundbreaking faction D-Generation X, but she also holds the distinction of being the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble Match and the first and only woman to win the Intercontinental Championship.”

After her death was announced, Stephanie McMahon went on Twitter to express her condolences. “I just heard the tragic news that @ChynaJoanLaurer has passed. She was truly a pioneer in our industry, and she will be missed. #RIPChyna”

It will be interesting to see if WWE does anything to commemorate her on television like they usually do when one of their former stars passes away. WWE, as a company, largely stayed away from her following her porn acting career and to avoid further problems between her and Triple H and Stephanie McMahon which were not a secret.
