Wade Barrett calls out Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney live on Raw

With Raw in Manchester, it was a bit inevitable to have some local sports stars interact with WWE Superstars and the stage was set for Wayne Rooney to make his Monday Night Raw debut.

During an in-ring segment involving Sheamus and Barrett, Barrett slammed Rooney for being a failure and said the only two championship material people were in the ring, and not Rooney and his Manchester United team. This drew some boos – and cheers – from the split Manchester crowd and while “Rooney, Rooney” chants echoed throughout the arena, the fans turned on him whenever Barrett kept pointing out what a disappointment he’s been for his team lately.

Wayne Rooney, the captain of football team Manchester United, was accompanied by one of his coaches and Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs and former teammate Darren Fletcher. Barrett and Rooney went on a small Twitter fight last year when Manchester United knocked out Barrett’s home team Preston North End during a cup game.

Rooney eventually got physical and managed to punch the former Intercontinental champion later on.
