Tommaso Ciampa returns at Takeover and attacks Johnny Gargano

It has been several months since we have seen Tommaso Ciampa, but the former NXT Tag Team title holder made his return last night at NXT Takeover, attacking his former partner to end the broadcast.

It was back in May of last year at Takeover: Chicago that Ciampa turned on Gargano following their ladder match loss against The Authors of Pain. Ciampa assaulted Gargano as the broadcast was fading to black, however the angle had to be put on the shelf as Ciampa required surgery.

A few days before their Takeover: Chicago match, Ciampa tore an ACL in his knee. He still wrestled the match but required surgery to repair the problem, putting him out of action for the rest of 2017.

Last night at Takeover, similar to what happened in Chicago, Ciampa attacked Gargano as he was at the top of the stage with his wife Candice LaRae. Ciampa was still sporting a knee brace and attacked Gargano with a crutch, leaving his mark – literally – on his former partner to end the show.

It’s not yet known if the man also referred to as the Psycho Killer is cleared to compete but the situation will be more clear when NXT resumes television tapings next week.
